Pete is SafetyNet’s Fisheries Research Assistant. Through his Master’s in Animal Behaviour, Pete developed an interest in understanding how animals are affected by their social and physical environments. He spent his thesis looking at the effect of foster-rearing in flamingos and more recently has been investigating how captive flamingos have coped during lockdown. Having also researched the effects of artificial light on moths, Pete wants to combine his scientific interest of artificial light with his love of marine wildlife to help inform sustainable fishing practices. Pete is often found saying hello to moths which is perfectly normal.
